Your First Home,
Done Right

Buying your first home is one of the biggest financial decisions of your life. Jordan Cooper and the Cooper Home Selling Team make sure you understand every step — so you buy with confidence, not anxiety.

How Buying a Home Works

No surprises, no jargon. Here’s what to expect from our first conversation to the moment you get your keys.

01

Get Pre-Approved

Before you fall in love with a home, know your budget. We’ll connect you with trusted local lenders who can get you pre-approved quickly so you’re ready to move when the right home appears.

02

Define Your Must-Haves

Location, school district, yard size, commute — we help you rank what matters most so we're not wasting time on homes that won’t work for your life.

03

Tour & Find the Right Home

We’ll set up a custom MLS search and personally tour homes with you, pointing out things that aren't visible in photos — good and bad.

04

Make a Winning Offer

In any market, offer strategy matters. We’ll review comps, advise on terms, and write an offer that protects you while staying competitive.

05

Inspection & Negotiation

We’ll attend the inspection with you and negotiate repairs or credits on your behalf. You won’t be left guessing what anything in the report means.

06

Close with Confidence

We coordinate with your lender, title company, and the seller's agent so closing day is smooth. We’ll walk you through what to expect before you ever sit down at that table.

We Work for You — Not the Transaction

A lot of agents rush first-time buyers through the process. We slow it down. We want you to understand every document you sign, every dollar you spend, and every decision you’re making.

Jordan Cooper has deep roots in Jefferson County and St. Louis, with relationships that help our buyers find great homes — sometimes before they ever hit the public market.

First-Time Buyer FAQs

How much do I need for a down payment?

Many first-time buyer programs allow as little as 3–3.5% down, and some USDA or VA loans require zero down. We can introduce you to lenders who specialize in first-time buyer programs in Missouri.

Do I pay the buyer's agent commission?

In most transactions, the seller covers the buyer's agent commission — so working with Jordan costs you nothing out of pocket. We’ll explain the exact arrangement for any home you want to offer on.

How long does the process take?

From your first conversation to closing, most buyers close in 30–60 days once under contract. The search phase varies — some buyers find their home in a week, others take a few months.

What if my offer gets rejected?

It happens, and it's not the end of the world. We’ll debrief, adjust our strategy, and get back out there. Most buyers make 1–3 offers before going under contract.
